WEST WIGHT – Paul Windridge
(Yarmouth, Freshwater, Brook, Brighstone, Calbourne, Wellow, Totland)
Paul has lived and worked in the Freshwater Bay area for fifteen years. After he left Art College he became a full-time freelance artist, held several solo exhibitions, and sold paintings worldwide. In the early 90’s he won an Adobe Photoshop award and spent more than a decade working with them as a freelancer and became involved in moving image and music-making.
During the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Apollo 11 moon mission Paul started painting again with canvases commemorating the event, followed by a series of “Interactions” pop-art style paintings continuing the 1960’s theme. Around the same time, he formed a special bond with a family of friendly foxes and started photographing, filming and ultimately painting them in oils as well as writing books about their lives.
“I believe that the revival of Isle of Wight Open Studios will help encourage people to view the island as a cultural destination, and I’m delighted to be involved.”
